Test System for the Compressor Industry

DESCRIPTION

A Manufacturer of Small Reciprocating Air Compressors required a Test Stand to conduct Quality Airflow Tests at various discharge pressures on either a Mass, Volume, or Corrected Volume Basis.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Ø      Set and Maintain Discharge Pressure.

Ø      Measure Air Mass Flow Rate.

Ø      Determine Inlet Density for Volume Flow Analysis.

Ø      Sequence through User-configured Discharge Pressures.

Ø      Comply with Industry Test Specifications: ISO, ASME, and CAGI.

Ø      Data saved to *.txt files.  Data report Generation.

Ø      User-friendly Test System Controller Software for Operator, Maintenance and Engineering Personnel.

SOLUTION

FLOW SYSTEMS designed and manufactured an Air Flow System that employed a set of six (6) Sonic Nozzles (Critical Flow Venturis) arranged in a Common Inlet and Exit Plenum.

As with all Flow Systems’ Test System designs, the Test System controller, data acquisition and control subsystems, and all instrumentation are standard, readily available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items. This ensures that servicing or replacement of any item can be achieved in a timely manner, providing for a high-availability for the Test System. This includes all of the UUT-related instrumentation that was explicitly specified by the customer.
