Turbine Meter

DESCRIPTION

A Turbine Engine Component Manufacturer required a test stand to conduct quality airflow calibrations on turbine meters and to test turbine engine components on a mass and volumetric airflow basis.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

» Turbine Meter Test Section with ability to simultaneously control Pressure and flow rate.
» Plenum and Fixturing to test high flowrate turbine engine components.
» Low Flow and High Flow Test sections with ability to alternately control pressure or flow rate.
» Test Section Line Size Range: ¼" Tubing. To 4" Pipe.
» User-friendly Test System Controller Software for Operator, Maintenance and Engineering personnel.

SOLUTION

FLOW SYSTEMS designed and manufactured an Air Flow system that employed a set of nine (9) Sonic Nozzles (Critical Flow Venturis) arranged in parallel High capacity and low capacity manifolds.

As with all FLOW SYSTEMS' Test System designs, the Test System controller, data acquisition and control subsystems, and all instrumentation are standard, readily available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items. This ensures that servicing or replacement of any item can be achieved in a timely manner, providing for a high-availability for the Test System. This includes all of the UUT related instrumentation that was explicitly specified by the customer.
