Gas Turbine Meter System

DESCRIPTION

A Gas Utility Company required a test stand to conduct quality airflow calibrations on turbine meters.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Ø      Turbine Meter Test Section with ability to simultaneously control Pressure and Flow Rate.

Ø      Provide Automated Regulators for Pressure Control.

Ø     Tabular and Graphical Data Presentation.

Ø     Interface with Existing Signal Conditioners and Frequency Counter.

Ø      User-friendly Test System Controller Software for Operator, Maintenance and Engineering Personnel.

SOLUTION

A hybrid of the GFC-Gas Flow Calibrator, Flow Systems designed and manufactured an Air Flow system that employed a set of ten (10) Sonic Nozzles (Critical Flow Venturis) arranged in a common manifold.

As with all Flow Systems’ Test System designs, the Test System controller, data acquisition and control subsystems, and all instrumentation are standard, readily available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items. This ensures that servicing or replacement of any item can be achieved in a timely manner, providing for a high-availability for the Test System. This includes all of the UUT-related instrumentation that was explicitly specified by the customer.

SPECIFICATIONS

Ø      Flow Elements:             Ten (10) Critical Flow Venturis (Sonic Nozzles) with Binary Throat Area Progression.

Ø      Flow Range                104 to 66783 ACFH 10 and 70°F.

Ø      Accuracy:                      ± 0.41% of reading, traceable to NIST standards.

Ø      Repeatability:               0.25 % or better.
