The Gas Flow Calibrator (GFC) is an automated, Sonic Nozzle, scalable, state-of-the-art test system providing exceptional metrology for all Gas Metering Technologies.  The customizable, turnkey system includes hardware, software and accessories, and supports testing on 15 different meter types at pressures ranging from atmospheric to 150 psig with closed loop control.

FEATURES:

Ø   Scaleable Expansion for both Mass Flow and Uncertainty:

            +/- 0.41% of reading
            +/- 0.29% of reading
            +/- 0.17% of reading

Ø   Ability to test flowmeters at Atmospheric and Elevated Pressures.

Ø   Compatible with common Calibration Gasses.

Ø   No Constraints on Test-Section Diameter or Length.

Ø   Windows™-based Software with Sophisticated Data Management and
          Analysis Capabilities.

ADVANTAGES:

Ø   Scaleable Range and Accuracy Utilizing a Single System Controller

Ø   Extremely Large Turndown in a Compact, Mobile Package.

Ø   Meters can be Tested at Pressures from Atmospheric to 150 psig.

Ø   Does Not Require Tight Environmental Temperature Control.

Ø   No Oils or Hazardous Materials (mercury) Required.

Ø   Total Automation with Closed Loop Control.

The GFC utilizes a dried and filtered, compressed gas supply, provided by the customer.  Metering is performed by a manifold of Flow Systems’ Sonic Nozzles, having a binary progression in throat area.  New, low flow capacity is achieved using a Bios International Dry Cal ML-Series Dry Seal, Piston Prover (no mercury).  (www.biosint.com)  The nozzles are calibrated by Colorado Engineering Experiment Station, Inc. www.CEESI.com an internationally recognized laboratory, and calibration is traceable to NIST standards.

FLOW CONTROLLER

Model FC500-FC

The FC500-FC was the first commercially available flow computer that will accommodate combinations of Sonic Nozzles configured in a Multiple Sonic Nozzle Array.  This unique functionality allows the FC500-FC to act as a stand-alone Flow Controller.  The FC500-FC can interface with a single Sonic Nozzle and/or sub-sonic Venturi, or up to 6 Sonic Nozzles, thus offering a 64:1 range in Flow.

Ø   Combines the Performance of a Control Valve and a Flow meter
          in 1 package.

Ø   Stand-Alone Operation with Internal or Remote Data Logging
          Capabilities.

Ø   Self-Contained Package including Instrumentation.

Ø   Calibration & Monitoring Windows™-Based Software.

MO DES OF OPERATION:

Ø         Mass Flow Control – MFC
Ø         Upstream Volume Flow Control – VFC
Ø         Downstream Pressure – PC

SONIC NOZZLES

The SONIC NOZZLE, also known as a "Critical Flow Venturi” or “Critical Flow Nozzle" has rapidly gained acceptance as a flow measurement standard and flowmeter. Sonic Nozzles are now utilized in many diverse applications by the aerospace, automotive, energy and metrology industries. Sonic Nozzles can be used as a calibration standard for gas flowmeters or any flow measurement device. By design, Sonic Nozzles are a constant volumetric flowmeter. However, with the use of a regulated pressure supply, the Sonic Nozzle becomes a “state-of-the-art” mass flowmeter.

A complete metering system includes a Sonic Nozzle, Inlet and Exit Sections, with Pressure and Temperature Sensors and a Flow Computer.

Ø   Internationally Recognized.

Ø   Mass Flow Varies Linearly with Inlet Pressure.

Ø   Minimal Upstream Piping Required.

Ø   Long Term Accuracy:

+/- 0.56% of reading
             +/- 0.29% of reading
             +/- 0.14% of reading

Ø   Excellent Repeatability.

Ø   No Moving Parts.

Ø   Differential Pressure Measurement Not Required.

Ø   Flow Rate Is Not Affected by Downstream Flow Disturbances.

Ø   Mass Flow is Constant with Varying Downstream Pressure.
