Model FC175

DESCRIPTION

Flow Systems introduces the lightweight and mobile Flow Computer model FC175.  The FC175 offers a greater economy than its FC200 and FC500 counterparts, and is designed for applications requiring fewer features and a lower price.  The FC175 interfaces with single, manually interchangeable, Sonic Nozzles and Sub-Sonic Venturis.  Multiple levels of accuracy are available with highly repeatable results.

SOLUTION

This unique solution (hardware and software) combines Instrumentation, Data Acquisition and Control, Computation, Monitoring and Communication with a local, customer-supplied personal computer or laptop.   Accurate Measurement via User-Friendly Controller and High System Availability are key features of this test instrument.

The data acquisition, control subsystems and all instrumentation are standard, readily available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) items. This ensures that servicing or replacement of any item can be achieved in a timely manner, providing high-availability for the test system.

The FC175 works with single Sonic Nozzles and Sub-Sonic Venturis. For those users requiring increased accuracy or advanced functionality, we recommend our FC500 model Flow Computer.

Configuration / Monitoring Software:

The FC175 software was developed using National Instruments™ LabVIEW™ and uses a USB connection to communicate with the FC175. This package gives the user the following functionality:

Test Set-up Screen:

Configures the FC175 for meter type, fluid, and units.

Real Gas Properties for most Gasses.

Flowmeter Configuration:

Calculations for Sonic Nozzles are in accordance with ASME MFC-7M / ISO 9300.
Computations for Sub-Sonic Venturis meet the requirements of ASME MFC-3M / ISO 5167.

Iterative Solution for Discharge Coefficient (Cd) based on Actual Calibration Data or Theoretical Models.

Data Monitoring and Logging:

Data may be logged automatically at a user-defined interval.

Flow Totalizing / Batching:  Allows the User to Start, Stop, Clear, and Log Batch Data.

Calibration Assistant for Maintenance of Internal Instrumentation:

Optional Internet Support and Diagnostics:

Allows FLOW SYSTEMS to observe and / or control a system remotely for training, optimization, or troubleshooting purposes.
This service requires a temporary, high-speed data line.

Accuracy

The FC175 uses a 15-bit data acquisition system to measure all analog inputs. The following tables state percent of reading and mass flow accuracy for both available meter types and corresponding instrumentation configurations.

Sonic Nozzles

Options Configuration Mass Flow Accuracy Comments
-01,
-01A
Level 1 +/0.95% of Reading Assumes: +/-0.50% CEESI calibration, 4:1 pressure range (+/-0.2% full scale) and 40° to 100°F gas temperature. (+/-0.2%).
-02 Level 2 +/-0.65% of Reading Assumes: +/-0.50% CEESI calibration, 4:1 pressure range (+/-0.1% full scale) and 40° to 100°F gas temperature. (+/-0.2%).
-03 Level 3 +/-0.54% of Reading Assumes: +/-0.50% CEESI calibration, 4:1 pressure range (+/-0.05% full scale) and 40° to 100°F gas temperature. (+/-0.2%).
